About
"My works are consistently inconsistent, and that's exactly how I wish to be represented. My "collections" are not directed by the hopes or aspirations of others, or influence. My works are intentional and individual forms of creativity from me, to you!
I paint without fear, and instead with an abundance of love; love for art and a genuine love for those who deserve it!
I give back to our collective world through Pennychan Art"
Pennychan Art is created with clear purpose. The beholder, collector, or art critic sometimes get it right! ha ha
My art is Penny.Chan Art; simple yet complex, and that does not mean I require a psychiatric assessment! Good humour is an inherant trait! Folk music runs through my families veins however, for me it's paint, and a hunger for foreign culture and creating tomorrow's cherished memories! I've travelled in my own mind (we all should at times). I've taken flight from fear and retribution, flicked the corporate and "Namaste" pretending parasites, and instead, I've embraced all that is good in diverse cultures and alike-minded individuals. I am authentic, I've evolved, and if you don't like it, bugger off! I've earned my stripes! I'm vulnerable. I'm heart broken, and I am uplifted too, and that was all in the last 5 minutes! I remind myself that I've stood in muddy puddles throughout the world, and I've danced in them too! I've laid wreaths to say goodbye too many times, and have the Australian river system etched around my eyes due to recent hardships. However, I also have a broad smile that could eat an apple through a tennis racquet! My smile and dimenia has caught the attention of foreign diplomats as much as my vintage Loui Vuitton bags whlst walking through the Arashimiya Bamboo forest, and through the streets of Bordeaux in the South of France! I've picked some of the most beautifull flowers with some of the most beautiful people from across the world. Each flower created a new arrangment, "Our bunch- a new bunch of friendships". I have three incredible blossoms of my own(children), and one has additional needs. Sometimes its difficult to work out which one! Love them to bits! Men and kids can be shits however, I've done my best to raise three individual earth dwellers; fearless, ambitious, and without the conservative weight that my family placed on me. My children are free! Life is inconsistent. Pennychan Art is my life,my consistently inconsistent commitment. I intend to paint until I'm 90! I am now free!
So please, make your selection, invest in a piece of art that sings to your heart ( something I learned from the Venetians). Art and my travels do it for me! This is Pennychan Art, it's for you! And YOU know who YOU are!

Japan 1986
Rotary Exchange Student,
Nara Rotary Club, JAPAN
I learned to speak and write Japanese and fully immersed myself into a new culture.
I have maintained my networks and friendships for almost 40 years! Shared values and authentic friendship is something I treasure most- its incredibly rare!
Japan is where the name "Chan"(pron. Ch-un) came from - representing a youthful and child-like inner spirit. It's stuck for almost 40 years! Children are given this name tile and when they come of age it is changed to "San". I feel blessed by my Japanese family and friends. They are my chosen family.
I loved Japan in the good old days, and I will always love Japan!
Japan is my happy place.
It is here that I experienced Kachou Fuugetsu;
The flowers, Birds, Wind and the Moon.
Australian teenager
The 80s represented freedom and I was hungry for it too. The eldest, and being just a girl, wasn't easy so I kept busy!
Sure, I wore big hair and shoulder pads when out with friends however, I was happiest with wet hair from waterskiing on Lake Hume, or paddock bashing on my grandparents farm in the old EJ Holden, having a fag in the churchyard with my bestie, or hanging out with my non-approved European friends.
The 80s created treasured influences and memories! Nothing vanilla like footy and netball and marrying the boy next door for me! Well, not until I was told who I should and shouldnt marry!
I enjoyed being a rebel 'under the radar' who still went to Sunday School to please the masses and to learn the fundamental values that would guide me through life. I'm incredibly grateful for my childhood and the lessons.
I had heaps of hobbies and interests, and featured in two ABC televison documentaries demonstrating traditonal dance.
And whilst boys liked me, I didn't even notice! Thank goodness!
Diplomatic Endeavours
Sponsored by the Japanese government to represent and foster Australian and Japanese relations through mutual understanding, economic and tourism development strategies.
My last delegation acquainted me with a Chinese Ambassador and we surprised each other just how much we had in common! The world is beautiful! I've acquainted myself with politicians, the Trade Commissioner in Tokyo, and had a fun and memorable encounter with the Consulate General of Saudi Arabia whilst in Kyoto. I'm comfortable in the company of people from all walks of life! My Japanese language skills are a gift I am most grateful.
I've been extremely fortunate to have led a corporate life; injecting close to $10 million in community grants for rural and regional communities in Australia, and sharing my expertise with my Japanese government friends and colleagues. I achieved all my goals and didn't let anything get in my way!
Australian toxic workplaces have also enabled me to demonstrate just how brave I could be. I walked away (with a push)! But never again will my work be recognised as being another's. Nasty people meet their own mirror each day and the cracks in their foreheads will become deeper. I am resilient. I am free!
